Ross began to take an active interest in music and sound design at the age of twelve after acquiring a vintage EMS synthesiser. He became a member of two different bands and worked part time at SAV studios in London writing library music, before going to Durham University and gaining an Honours degree in Applied Physics and Electronics.

After university he joined 'Sound Design' a company based in Covent Garden which went on to form a new music division of Magmasters Dubbing Studios, London. Inititially working as a music engineer and then dubbing mixer, it wasn't long before Ross began to gain a reputation for his own brand of sound design.

From Magmasters he went on to join Amber Music which was then in its second year. During his time at Amber he worked on a broad range of commercials, establishing a greater reputation for cutting edge sound design which has since been often imitated.

In 2002 Ross started Aardvark Sound with the specific intention of creating a small, focused music and sound design company. By joining forces with Bridget Sapiano, and by bringing on board the talents of Oliver Davis, Aardvark has become a busy London music company with a solid reputation.
